Above is the message I received from my son’s birth mother the day I took him home from the hospital. When I think of her, I am so thankful for everything that she has done. She represents bravery, strength, and selfless.
My son’s birth mother experienced the unimaginable. Imagine waking up from a night partying with your friends and you find out you were drugged. Imagine three months later finding out that you were pregnant and realizing that you were assaulted at a party you attended. What would you do? You don’t believe in abortion, and you know you aren’t able to love this child properly. What do you do? Where do you go? She was brave. She came to us, and she chose us to parent her child.
During her pregnancy I admired how strong she was. She was able to be open and honest with her feelings. She endured so much, and she never gave up. She was always positive and never complained. She was aware of her feelings and knew what she needed and what she didn’t need.
Placing a baby is one of the most selfless things you can do. This amazing woman put her feelings aside and bought a beautiful baby boy in this world. She knew what she had to do; even though I am sure it was the hardest decision of her life, but she put everyone else’s needs first. How can I ever repay her for giving me the best gift ever? In my heart, I will always be forever grateful to her. I owe her the world because she gave me my world and she made me a mother.
