Hi, my name is Sydny, and my adoption story is pretty complex. My life has had lots of tough times and heartache, but also moments of bravery and hope. Last year in March, I got out of prison. At that time, I was addicted to methamphetamine and had already lost custody of my other kids to my mom. It was hard, but I knew they were better off with her. Then, in the middle of all this, I found out I was pregnant. I was married but separated at the time when I found out I was going to have a baby, but sadly, my husband died. Losing him was very hard because he was my support system during this adoption. During a break in our relationship, I got involved with a man who was very abusive. He even tried to kill me. I had to decide whether to keep my baby or give them a chance at a better life, so I gave my child a chance.

I chose adoption because I know what it’s like to grow up poor, to be homeless, and to need things. I couldn’t let my children go through that. Even though it was very hard, I am proud of my decision. I gave my children a chance to have a better life, a life filled with love and stability, something I couldn’t provide. One of the best parts of my adoption story is the support I received. I was blessed with a wonderful family for my children and an amazing caseworker who has stayed in touch with me. This is my third adoption with the same family, which means my kids get to stay together. They are truly a blessing. Even while I was in prison, I got regular updates and pictures of my children. Knowing they were safe, happy, and well cared for brought me a lot of peace and joy. I don’t regret my decision at all. Seeing my children thrive and knowing that I gave another family the gift of children makes me very happy.

Through the years, my children have had opportunities and a stable home that I couldn’t give them. They have a better chance at life, and that makes me feel good. My journey has been hard, but it led to hope and healing for me and my children.

Adoption can be a wonderful and beautiful thing. It shows the strength of birth parents and adoptive families. Sydny’s story is just one of many, and we hope it can comfort and inspire others who face tough choices. We all want the best for our children, and sometimes, the bravest thing we can do is give them a better chance at life. In the end, adoption gave Sydny’s children the life she always wanted for them. They are happy, they are loved, and they have a future full of possibilities. And that, more than anything, makes all her sacrifices worth it.
